Empowering Black Women Through Health, Education, Experiences, and Resources

When a Black woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, she’s often met with a flood of emotions—fear, confusion, and isolation. The medical appointments, the decisions, the unknowns—it can feel overwhelming. But what makes the journey less daunting is knowing you’re not in it alone.
That’s why sistahood is more than just a word—it’s a necessity. Having a community that understands the unique challenges we face as Black women navigating breast cancer can be the difference between struggling in silence and thriving through the fight.
At My Style Matters, we believe in the power of Health, Education, Experiences, and Resources—the foundation of H.E.R. Support, a program that ensures no woman walks this journey alone.
Monica’s Journey: Finding Strength in Sistahood
When Monica Brown received her Triple Negative Breast Cancer diagnosis, her world flipped upside down. It was appointment after appointment, fear creeping in, and a whirlwind of emotions.
Like so many Black women, she wasn’t just looking for treatment—she was searching for a community, for understanding, for guidance.
That’s when she found H.E.R. Support.
“With H.E.R. Support, I didn’t just learn about mindfulness, nutrition, and fitness—I gained confidence. I learned to speak openly about where I was emotionally, mentally, and physically. I found a safe space to be honest, transparent, and supported.” – Monica
Monica didn’t just get Health, Education, Experiences, and Resources—she got a sistahood. A circle of women who saw her, heard her, and walked alongside her every step of the way.
“One of the biggest gifts I received from H.E.R. Support is a sistahood. These women supported me, and I was able to support them. That kind of connection is priceless.”
H.E.R. Support: Health, Education, Experiences, and Resources for Black Women

H.E.R. Support is a 12-week transformational program designed specifically for Black women battling breast cancer. It’s a space where we pour into our health, education, experiences, and resources so we can heal, advocate for ourselves, and thrive.
Here’s what women like Monica receive through H.E.R. Support:
- Health – Nutrition guidance, fitness support, and ways to reduce toxic exposure.
- Education – Workshops on self-advocacy, mental health, and understanding your diagnosis.
- Experiences – A powerful community where women share, heal, and uplift each other.
- Resources – Non-toxic care kits, affordable produce boxes, health coaching, and mental health support.
On March 15, 2025, Monica and her H.E.R. Support sisters will come together for a transformational retreat—a day of learning, sisterhood, and restoration. This retreat is a chance to put everything they’ve learned into action while celebrating their strength and resilience.
Why H.E.R. Support Matters
Black women facing breast cancer deserve more than just treatment—we deserve support, knowledge, and a community that understands our journey. H.E.R. Support provides just that—a space where women can learn, heal, and connect through Health, Education, Experiences, and Resources.
Through nutrition guidance, self-advocacy workshops, mental health support, and access to essential resources, this program is changing lives—giving women like Monica the confidence, tools, and sistahood they need to thrive beyond their diagnosis.
With the support of the Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer’s $10,000 grant, we are expanding this impact, ensuring more Black women receive the care, education, and empowerment they deserve.
But we can’t do it alone.
